As Storm Ciaran approaches, bringing with it the potential for 90mph winds and heavy rainfall, the urgency for robust weather protection for farm buildings and sheds has never been greater. Secure Windbreaks are the immediate solution to this pressing need, explicitly designed to keep rain, wind, and other adverse weather conditions out of your sheds and buildings. With the storm already upon us, it's critical to safeguard your livestock and storage spaces now.
We designed Secure Windbreaks in response to farmers wanting a tough, long-lasting alternative to traditional timber boarding for weatherproofing stock sheds. Farmers can also use Secure Windbreaks to reduce draughts above exposed doors and feed runs while still providing ventilation.
Manufactured from the same long-lasting UV-resistant material used in our tried and tested Secure Covers, Secure Windbreaks have the same inherent toughness and resilience. However, the material will not fray if accidentally damaged, overcoming the shredding problems seen in some woven windbreaks.
With the current storm, the importance of Secure Windbreaks cannot be overstated. They are crucial for keeping the elements at bay ensuring your buildings and sheds remain dry and secure. The urgency is real; the bad weather is here, but so is our solution. We have plenty of stock and can deliver to your farm the next day, ensuring you are not unprepared as the storm hits.
Secure Windbreaks are held in place by a hook and ratchet system, making it simple and quick to install. The tensioning straps are not fixed directly to the windbreak fabric but run through the sleeves, which ensures that the Windbreak fabric is not under tension, thus increasing longevity.
Secure Windbreaks are available in a standard range of sizes from 4.75m (15 feet) to 13.7m (45 feet). Due to the non-fray fabric structure, the standard sizes are fully adjustable to any bay width. The Windbreaks come in 4 heights: 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m, and 3m.
Secure Windbreaks efficiently allow fresh air and light into buildings whilst providing weather protection. They can be quickly used to convert store sheds into comfortable, airy livestock shelters economically.
This is precisely what Mr Brian Coupland has done on his farm at Dunsop Bridge near Clitheroe. Mr Coupland, with 1100 breeding ewes, 200 hogs, and 400 beef cattle at his farm, needs to get the best use out of all his stock buildings. When he needed to find more space for fattening lambs, he removed the Yorkshire boarding from a barn and replaced it with Secure Windbreaks to give the young stock a lighter, better-ventilated environment.
Mr. Coupland is delighted with the result: "The Secure Windbreaks have done an excellent job. The atmosphere within the building is consistent, without extremes, and keeps fresher."
Secure Windbreaks are quick and easy to install. The open-knitted structure of the Windbreak material, which provides ventilation without draughts, will significantly reduce penetrating snow and rain, keeping bedding and livestock dry.
Brian Parry, who milks 160 cows at his farm near Monmouth, had a problem with the wind and rain on the southwest side of a new building, which meant that bedding was getting wet and cows were not using the whole building.
"We fitted Secure Windbreaks above the doors and have resolved the problem without compromising the ventilation. The Secure Windbreaks were easy to put up, and I could push them up out of the way for access. They are strong and look good on the new building."
There is no time to delay with the imminent threat of Storm Ciaran. Secure your buildings with Secure Windbreaks today and protect your investment from the unpredictable UK weather.
